MEMÉM “4WATT WOODEN HERMANN LAMP”

In occasione del Salone del Mobile 2012 Memém ospiterà l’installazione “4Watt Wooden Hermann Lamp”.
L’installazione si compone di 50 lampadine in legno di abete, faggio, mogano, doussiè, ontano e tulipier. Pezzi unici realizzati a mano.Venature e stratificazioni di colore, conferiscono a questi oggetti un aspetto ancestrale. Evocano la pietra, la staticità, la lenta sedimentazione della polvere e lo scandire costante del tempo. E’ l’antitesi della luce. E’ l’energia racchiusa nella materia. Come una lampadina che per decenni, con infinita costanza, offre la propria luce fioca generando atmosfere rassicuranti, l’installazione “4Watt”, fissa con il suo tenue bagliore, la magia di una luce invisibile ma perpetua. Ogni singolo pezzo sarà in vendita esclusiva dal 17 al 22 Aprile fino ad esaurimento.

Johnny Hermann è stato selezionato da Designboom nel ristretto gruppo di 35 designer emergenti ed autoprodotti provenienti da vari paesi del mondo, per partecipare all’esclusiva esposizione “Designboom Mart 2012” che si terrà a New York, all’interno dell’ICFF, il prossimo mese di maggio.

During the Salone del Mobile 2012 in Milan, Memém will be hosting the “4Watt Wooden Hermann Lamp” installation by Johnny Hermann, alter-ego of designer Mauro Savoldi. The installation comprises 50 lamps in a variety of woods – pine, beech, mahogany, alder and tulip. These unique pieces are all handmade. The interplay of grain and bands of colours give these objects the appearance of ancestral heirlooms. They evoke stone, immovability, the slow accumulation of dust and the inexorable passage of time. Concepts that are, in fact, the antithesis of light. Energy imprisoned in the material. Like a lamp that for decades, with infinite constancy, casts its faint light to create an unthreatening and reassuring cocoon, the “4Watt” installation uses its restrained glow to entrap the magic of an invisible yet unceasing light. Every single piece will be on sale at this venue only from 17 to 22 April, until all items have been purchased.

Johnny Hermann has been chosen by Designboom to join a select group of 35 emerging, self-produced designers from various countries to take part in the exclusive “Designboom Mart 2012” exhibition held in New York at the ICFF furniture fair, next May.
